Modern MooSaDo – Hapkido Moo Sa Kwan

The system of Modern Moo Sa Do (MMSD) literally means the “way of the modern warrior” and is a hybrid (dynamic and eclectic), reality based system of personal protection and martial art that utilizes techniques from multiple martial art systems with a heavy emphasis on the KiDo Arts. The system is new to the reality-based martial arts world but the principles and concepts have been in existence for over a hundred years. MMSD also recognizes that the history of modern martial arts predominately came from warrior based martial systems that over time have been watered down due to society and social based evolution, thus the emphasis has changed directions to meet the needs of today’s ever growing clientèle.  We are neither for nor against this belief.

Modern Moo Sa Do recognizes that since 9/11 and with the rise of terrorism and crime, today’s warrior must not just be a traditional martial artist but the ever day person.  MMSD fills the reality-gap that many martial artists and individuals need to become complete and confident individuals that have true, assertive confidence to combat and avoid modern hostilities.

Modern Moo Sa Do, which also exists as Hapkido Moo Sa Kwan, is a system that focuses on all aspects of combat: physical, tactical and mental. The system also utilizes principles of strength conditioning, bio-mechanics, physics, physiology and psychology.  FBI statistics are utilized to strengthen the gap between the physical and mental.  Knowledge of statistics assists in psychological preparation of combat whether on the battlefield or the urban street.  MMSD is a system and science that when properly practiced and studied, will benefit everyone from the teen to the adult, the novice to the advanced martial arts instructor, law enforcement personnel to the military tactical expert.  MMSD will bridge the reality-gap and assist you in your personal protection needs.

The system was developed and founded by Grand Master George Bell, who has over 36 years of martial arts experience and Grand Master W. Scott Feagan, with over 36 years martial arts and law enforcement experience. Bell and Feagan have joined together to make the system of Modern Moo Sa Do/Hapkido Moo Sa Kwan available for anyone who wants to enhance their skill and knowledge level in a system and science of reality-based personal protection.

The main purpose of Modern Moo Sa Do is to add a sense of reality to “traditional” martial art programs. Individuals looking for a no-nonsense system of personal protection that utilizes concepts of the traditional warrior and adapts and considers our modern environment will learn a great deal. We also offer instructors rank certification to those who teach martial arts through our International organization, Modern Moo Sa Do International.

Modern “Hyun Dae” MooSaDo also functions as  Hapkido Moo Sa Kwan. We want you to understand that we interpret MMSD as a system and science but NOT a style of martial art. We take art forms that already exist with a heavy emphasis on the KiDo arts such as Hapkido, Judo, Jiu-Jitsu and aligns the practice of  the system with the principles of Moo Sa “Warrior” Kwan “School”.  Meaning we teach in the ways of the old arts physically, mentally, and spiritually but for the modern “Hyun Dae” Warrior.
