Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu adult color belts





In Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu you must be a minimum of 19 years old to achieve the prestigious rank of black belt and it takes an average of 8-10 years to achieve, but it can be achieved in less or more time as well.

There are a total of 10 degrees of black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. At the rank of third Dan you hold the title of “Professor” and can promote students to Black Belt.

5th BJJ Degree, Go Dan; Master
The Martial Way’s BJJ affiliation is with Master Wellinton “Megaton” Dias who has over 35 years experience and is under the Gracie Humaita school with Royler Gracie (6th Dan) and is the highest ranking BJJ Black Belt in Arizona. At the rank of fifth Dan you hold the title of “Master.”

The only changes are that 9th Dan is now a Red Bet & 8th and 7th Dans are Red & Black Belts. 10th Dan no longer exist for any living BJJ practitioner!
